Cramposia Selectionata is a Romanian grape variety developed from the traditional Cramposie through selection for improved viticultural and winemaking qualities.

It produces fresh, dry white wines with lively acidity and delicate aromas of green fruit, citrus and wild flowers, often accompanied by a subtle mineral character.

Cramposia Selectionata in Romania

Approximately 135 hectares of Romanian vineyards are planted with Cramposia Selectionata. Beyond its fresh and distinctive wine style, the variety is valued for its adaptability to variable climatic conditions and its good resistance to many of the diseases commonly affecting the vine.

Cramposia Selectionata is particularly associated with Oltenia, in southwestern Romania. Its most important expressions are found in the historic Dragasani vineyard, where the variety has become an important part of the modern revival of indigenous Romanian grapes.

The variety is also cultivated in Segarcea, where local soils and warm growing conditions allow it to develop expressive fruit while retaining the freshness that defines its character.

Wines made from Cramposia Selectionata are generally dry, light and vibrant, combining refreshing acidity with aromas of green apple, citrus, apricot and wild flowers. Their energetic character makes them particularly attractive as youthful wines and well suited to warm-weather drinking.

The renewed interest in Cramposia Selectionata reflects a broader movement within Romanian wine towards rediscovering and promoting native varieties. Its distinctive identity and close connection with Romanian terroir make it an important part of the country's contemporary wine culture.
