Zghihara de Husi is an old Romanian white grape variety closely associated with the historic vineyards of Moldova, on the hills surrounding Husi near the Prut River.
The variety is vigorous and well adapted to dry conditions, although it can be sensitive to severe winter temperatures and late spring frosts.
Zghihara usually ripens from late September into early October and tends to accumulate moderate levels of sugar, favouring light, refreshing wines rather than rich or highly alcoholic styles.
